The Graduate Womxn’s Project (GWP) is devoted to addressing the personal, social, political, and academic needs of womxn. For the last decade, GWP has been the only student body that advocates for graduate and professional womxn at UC Berkeley.
We use “womxn” to welcome graduate/professional students who experience life through the lens of womxn in body, spirit, or identity.
GWP is project within the Graduate Assembly. The Graduate Assembly is the official representative body of the graduate and professional students at the University of California, Berkeley. The fundamental principles of the Graduate Assembly are the promotion of a vibrant student social life, inclusiveness, activism, community service, educational improvement, and professional development. In service to these principles the Graduate Assembly advocates for students, funds student groups on campus, and directly manages a variety of projects.
Current GWP Project Director
Gauthami Penakalapati is a PhD student in the Energy and Resources Group. She advocates for graduate womxn on the Chancellors Advisory Committee on the Status of Womxn and the 150W Years of Women at Berkeley Planning Committee.
